Presidential Inauguration Simulcast NextArts
Watch Barack Obama's Presidential Inauguration simulcast on the big screen at San Francisco's Civic Center Plaza. It's free, just bring a donation of new socks or new underwear for the needy.
NextArts will present a large screen video presentation of President-elect Barack Obama's historic inauguration before San Francisco's City Hall at Civic Center Plaza. The Plaza will open at 6:00 a.m. to accommodate seating.
The San Francisco inaugural simulcast will occur outdoors rain or shine, just as in Washington, D.C.
This is a "Sock It To Me Concert"". NextArts will collect socks and underwear (new, tags still attached) for the homeless instead of charging admission. NextArts has always believed: "We are our brother's and sister's keeper."
NextArts produces concerts in public spaces throughout San Francisco. We are a social enterprise that provides special event production services as a means to raise funds to support our concert series. In 2005, we began asking attendees to bring new, unused items, with tag still attached for collection and re-distribution to worthy charities, instead of charging admission. So far we have collected over 3200 pairs of new socks and underwear and over 2400 units of school supplies at our concerts.
